The more i read the more i come to conclusion how little i know.
With every passing year i realize how true this quote is. isn’t it?
Over the past few years, one of my recurring new year resolution is to read at least 6 books per year and listen to X number of top podcasts etc. per year.
As per WHO, the average lifespan of millenials (born between 1982 and 1996) is ca. 80 years. Another limited study suggests on average humans read 50-80 books in their lifespan( the sample population was mostly in US, a first world country so it could be biased data.)
Overall there has been a constant decline in the number of books we read from Slient generation -> Baby boomers -> Gen X and we millennials.
Thanks to internet and social media. I am 100% convinced each coming generation is becoming slave to algorithms. :)
These were the books is read this year(2025), in case you are looking for some ideas.
The fastest way to learn much more in your limited lifespan on this planet is to bank upon the knowledge bank of other wise (wo)men.
This is where books comes to rescues, by reading a book you can learn from experiences (good ones and bad ones) from multitude of generations. Hence can live multi genrational experiences in one generation. :)
While this year comes to an end i am so grateful that i got chance to at least tick off this from the resolution i made it last year.
One change i plan to do this year is to read less. I plan to read max 4 books this year BUT would like to spend more time thinking, reflecting on the ideas and learnings from the same.
Writing short snippet from the same for future me is also the idea. But also publish for others to have some micro learnings.
- Below are some of the books i plan to read this year. In case you are looking for any suggestions.
